Depot Park & Connector Trails

Creative Commons: Flatwoods 36

Depot Park is the largest park in central Gainesville. It’s just south of downtown, using Main St. A loop around the park, on pleasant paved paths passing by a couple of ponds, is ~ 1 mile. There’s a weekly Parkrun at Depot Park, Saturdays, 9am.

Longer Run — Two Options:

  • Add to this with the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail, accessible at the southern end of the park. It’s ~1 mile to its northern end at SW 2nd St. downtown. Or, head south for ~1.5 miles, where you can connect to the Sweetwater Wetlands trails or run for many miles through parks & preserves to Hawthorne.
  • The Waldo Ave. Greenway Depot Rail Trail heads east of Depot Park. It’s a cycle path alongside SR 24. Not the most scenic, but good way to talk on some miles. It’s 4.5 miles north to NW 47th Ave., adjacent to the Gainesville Regional Airport.
Essentials
