Gulf Shores, Alabama

Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails/Gulf State Park

http://www.nrtdatabase.org

The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails are the best off-road running option in the Gulf Shores area. There are about 28 miles of trails (mostly paved) that combine the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails and Gulf State Park Trails, meandering through the Park’s 6,000 acres of land connecting the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach areas. The terrain is a combination of wooded and open marshland, with some lovely water views. Note: keep an eye out for alligators and snakes.

Rather than recommend a specific route, we suggest you consult this trail map to plot out your run. The map has good information on the different trails and the distances. About 2/3 of the trails are paved. There are some boardwalk sections as well.
