Some of the better options for road running in Ho Chi Minh City are in District 2. Thao Dien is an up and coming neighborhood, located just across the Saigon River from the historic Saigon Center and bound by the Hanoi Highway. There are some good streets for creating your own route here, including some cute, tree-lined lanes. The streets are generally wide, with decent sidewalks, and not too much traffic. The Village Hotel, located on the river, is a good anchor point. Suggested loop: From the Village Hotel, take Nguyễn Văn Hưởng heading west, to Xuân Thủy heading east, then Đường Thảo Điền heading north past the British International School.
There is also decent running on the quieter roads of the An Khánh neighborhood. From the Meridien/Zoo/River area, cross over the Cầu Thủ Thiêm Bridge, and create your own route along the wider, greener, somewhat quieter streets of this area.
