If you are looking for beautiful off-road trails to explore near Jakarta, Sentul highlands is the perfect spot. Sentul is located in Bogor District, about 50km south of Jakarta. The area offers a variety of trails, some easy and some challenging, through beautiful lush green landscapes, rice paddies and dense forests. Be aware that the majority of trails are not marked. If you are not confident navigating off-road, idGuides provides trail running guides that can show you the way.
Our route starts at “Kilometer Nol” café (a popular meet-up point for trail runners and mountain bikers) just outside Sentul City. There is a short section on a quiet road before entering the forest. We’ve mapped a an out-and-back route to the small village of Cisadon in the middle of the hills, but it can be shortened. Apart from a few muddy and steep sections, the majority of the trail is very runnable, with great mountain and rice field views along the way. If you want to extend the run you could start at Taman Budaya in Sentul City and run to the start, resulting in an additional 10 km.
- 20.4 km (12.2 miles) out and back. Options to shorten. Also a 10 km optional addition
- 702 meters (2882 feet)
- Kilometer Nol
- A car is useful to get to Sentul although it is also possible to get there by bus (APBT Jakarta – Bogor line).
