The running options in the inland, downtown section of João Pessoa aren’t very good. It’s densely populated, the main roads have multiple lanes of traffic, and the smaller roads don’t have very good sidewalks.
Right in the center, the best bet is 1 km laps on the path around the lake at Parque da Lagoa. From there, take the dedicated cycle path that runs along Av. Min. José Américo de Almeida. The path follows the median of the busy road for 6.4 km between Parque da Lagoa and Cabo Branco Beach. This run won’t win any awards for scenery, but it’s the safest bet for a longer off-road run in João Pessoa (other than the seafront promenade).
