Parque Linear Parahyba

Google Street View

In a city lacking larger parks, stitching together a ~5 km run combining two sections of Parque Linear Parahyba is a decent option. These small parks are located in the northeastern part of João Pessoa, just inland from Alécia Beach (Praia de Alécia) and Bessa Beach (Praia do Bessa).

Start at the main Parque Linear Parahyba, off R. Bacharel José de Oliveira Curchatuz, just inland from Praia de Alécia. There’s a nice, 1.4 cycle path looping around this green oasis. Then, head north on R. Bacharel José de Oliveira Curchatuz for 0.4 km (not pleasant, but there’s a sidewalk) to connect to Parque Linear Parahyba 2, which is just inland from Praia do Bessa.  A loop around this park on the red cycle path is 1.2 km. Return to the start using R. Bacharel or other side streets.

Add-Ons: The road along the beaches (Av. Gov. Argemiro de Figueiredo) is runnable. Decent sidewalks, though not much in the way of water views.
