Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve & Thaba Trails

Sometimes referred to as the “Jewel of the South,” the beautiful Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve is 10 km from the city center. There are plenty of trails here, spanning over hills, along the Bloubos Spruit stream, and through picturesque grasslands. The 640 hectare preserve can be accessed from north and south entrances, both of which have fantastic running choices. The 12 km Wildlife Loop is a popular option, as are the Thaba mountain biking trails, accessible from Kliprivier Drive. Lucky runners may encounter zebra, wildebeest, and rare birds — just use caution not to disturb wildlife. The park is open sunrise-sunset and admission is free.

To follow the Wildlife Loop: Go STRAIGHT (north) on the Bloubos Trail, RIGHT (east) on the Tswana Trail, RIGHT (north) on the Klepersol Trail, RIGHT (east) on the Wildebeest Trail, LEFT (south) on the Legae Trail, LEFT (southwest) on the Beacon Trail, then RIGHT (north) back onto the Bloubos Trail.
