Best Beach Runs on Koh Samui

Creative Commons: Fabio Achill

The best running on Koh Samui is along its gorgeous white sand beaches. There are several beaches that are of decent length & width, with fairly firm sand near the water, that make for some excellent beach running. The best running tends to be when the tide is out. TIDE TABLE

Chaweng Beach. This nearly 7 km beach is the most popular in Koh Samui, and can be busy with beachgoers and partiers. But it’s a great beach for running, with lovely white sand that’s quite firm near the water. To get away from the crowds, explore the quieter south or north areas. Add-On; See our Chaweng area road run.

Choeng Mon Beach. Scenic, curvy beach just north of Chaweng, with lots of hotels and restaurants around. It’s only 1 km long but has lovely, firm white sand for running.

Bo Phut Beach. Lovely 2 km beach for running at the northern part of the island. A side jaunt is to explore some of the side roads around Fisherman’s Village, with its old wooden Chinese shop-houses juxtaposed against modern Mediterranean-style  buildings.

Maenam Beach. CC: Fabio Achill

Maenam Beach. Just west of Bo Phut. Nearly 7 km long, backed with palm trees, rental bungalows & restaurants.. Not very wide. Sand tends to be soft, running only best around low tide.

Lamai Beach. Toward the southern part of the island. This lovely white sand beach is ~3 km long, but fairly narrow at its northern end. Good sand for running near low tide.
