Austin, TX

Lake Austin Blvd./Scenic Dr./Mt. Bonnell

This is a nice run that provides an idea of some of the hills in the northwest part of Austin. It’s a pretty straight shot out Lake Austin Blvd. (some sections nicer than others), starting at the western edge of the Lady Bird Lake Trail (MOPAC). Pass by the Westfield Golf Course, then connecting to Scenic Drive, with a couple of minor connections to be aware of. If you’re not too sweaty, head into the Contemporary Austin gallery, right by the Westwood Country Club. The run is about 3.8 miles to Mayfield Park

For a longer and challenging run, continue ~1.5 miles along Scenic Drive to Mt. Bonnell Rd., and Mt. Bonnell. At Mt. Bonnell/Covert Park, there’s a trail leading to the Cliff Rocks over Lake Austin, and a great staircase to the summit if you want to get the lungs going!

Essentials
  • 7.7 miles Out and Back; Option to go out to Mt. Bonnell
  • 219 ft. -- and more hills at Mt. Bonnell
  • MoPAC/Lake Austin Blvd. & Veteran’s Blvd -- western end of Lady Bird Lake Trail
