Nancy is located in the Lorraine region of northeast France. It’s a city famous for its medieval old town and Art Nouveau architecture which meet at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Place Stanislas. Nancy is also a major university city, known for its museums, macarons, and bergamot candy. The running in Nancy centers on extensive paths along the Meurthe River and canals, and numerous small but pretty parks.

The best places to run in Nancy are the paths along the River Meurthe and the surrounding Marne–Rhine CanalParc de la Pépinière, conveniently located in the city center, also offers some good running and sightseeing opportunities, as do the allées of Parc de Brabois in southwest Nancy. We also like running in Parc Richard Pouille and Parc Sainte-Marie de Nancy. There are also numerous long cycling paths along some of the main roads that can be used for longer off-road runs or to connect our other routes.

Nancy is a simple city to navigate, with public bus and tram services covering most of the city. City wide taxis are widely available, as well as VéloStanLib’ cycle hires.

Nancy has an oceanic/continental climate with mild summers and cool winters. In summer, average temperatures are in the 24C (75F) range, with cool-ish nights.
