Incheon is the third largest city in South Korea, with a population of 3 million. Part of the greater Seoul metro area, Incheon is a major port city and manufacturing hub. It’s densely populated, so finding good places for running in Incheon requires going to specific spots. There are some good waterfront routes, parks, and cycle paths for running.
In central Incheon, there’s an extensive linear park anchored by Incheon Central Park. One of the best places to run in Incheon is a series of several parks in Songdo, including 3 km along the water. Other good parks for running are Subong Park & Wolmi Park. For a longer distance run, we recommend the 16 km Ara Canal cycle path. On Yeongjongdo Island near Incheon Airport (a destination itself), there’s nice running along Masian Beach and over to Muui-dong Island. . We’ve also put together routes in the adjacent city of Bucheon, most notably Sangdong Lake Park and the Gulpocheon Cycle Path. Trail runners and hill lovers will enjoy Somuuido Island in Incheon and Eco Park & Wonmi Park in Bucheon.
Winter temps can be well below freezing, with average Janaury highs of 0C, so bring layers and be prepared for some icy terrain, although the important cycling/pedestrian paths are kept clear. Winters are generally dry. In summer, it can be hot, with average highs near 30C, so run early and hydrate. There’s also a fair bit of rain in summer, brought mainly by East Asian Monsoon downpours. July and August tend to be quite cloudy. Many of our routes in the city are well lit at night.
