Tangier is a city in northwestern Morocco on the Strait of Gibraltar. It’s a historic city with a scenic setting on the coasts of the Mediterranean and the North Atlantic. The Ancien Medina is well-preserved, and the more modern Tangier City Center lies just to the west. There’s some attractive running in Tangier, highlighted by waterfront paths, and a good series of trails in the parks, hills, and forested areas near the city.

The best place to run in Tangier is along the 8.5 km of waterfront between Villa Harris Park and Merkala Beach. We’ve also put together a 6 km ‘runseeing’ tour of Ancien Medina and other historic sites. For some easier, shaded trails, head just west to Rmila Park. There are very scenic, but more challenging trails at Cap Spartel and in the adjacent hills just south. For a great day trip & destination run, drive the 45 minutes to Asilah and enjoy our route along the waterfront and ancient ramparts.
