Destination Run: Asilah Waterfront & City Walls Tour

Creative Commons 4.0: Abdeaitali

Asilah is a worth-it visitor destination for its well-preserved 15th-century city wall, medina, scenic coastline, and wide beach. It’s located 45 km south of Tangier. We’ve put together a scenic ‘runseeing’ tour, which hits the highlights and offers a nice variety.

Starting at the south end of Asilah Beach, run south for 1.2 km on the wide seafront promenade, enjoying great views of the North Atlantic. Then take a short detour inland to run through the nicely landscaped Parc Mohammed. Head back down to the water to Tower Kasba Asila and take a jaunt down the pier (1.6 km out and back). The next section is a run along the Old City Wall. Can be narrow and not 100% seamless, but you can weave your way. Come back north through the mainly pedestrianized Medina, creating your own route or using Rue Alkadira as a through road. Finish by repeating the waterfront promenade.

Add-On: Can also run on Asilah Beach. It’s a wide beach and the sand tends to be soft.
