Seille River Paths/Parc de la Seille

Parc de la Seille. Creative Commons 3.0

The paths along the Seille River are another in a series of river/canal front running options in Metz. This route is a bit different, as the paths along the Seille pass through a series of gardens, and, at the southern end, a farm-like landscape. It’s an easy 9 km out and back.

Start at the Jardins Jean-Marie Pelt, also known as Seille Park, with options to run on paved paths along the west side of the river or on other paths through the park (note: can also access from central Metz though not very pleasant getting over to the Jardins). The first 2 km are through the park. Continue south, through a landscape of farms and additional gardens/parks for another 2.5 km to Magny, paralleling the river and the D913 road.

Essentials
  • Up to 4.5 km (2.8 miles) one-way; 9 km out and back
  • Flat
  • Jardins Jean-Marie Pelt
  • Can access from the main train station, 800m west
