Lake Elmo Park Preserve, located 10 miles east of St. Paul is a great spot for a destination run. The 2,165-acre preserve features some 30 miles of trails over a gentle rolling hill landscape with a mix of lakes, woods, and prairie. is a great spot for a destination run. There are three ‘sections’ of trails. From the map, the 7.5 miles of turf-surfaced green trails are in the south/eastern section of the preserve, through woods and around Margaret Lake & Brown’s Pond. The 5.4 mile Brown Trail is paved, and heads mainly north-south, and includes a section along the western end of Lake Elmo. This trail also provides access to the Brown’s Creek State Trail, which runs for 5.8 miles east to Stillwater. The 14 miles of blue trails are in the western end of the preserve — some sections along Eagle Point Lake, and other, hillier & more rugged wooded sections to the north and west.

Note: The preserve is a popular nordic skiing spot in winter.
