Arthur Ave and the University of Montana

Jitze Couperus

Most streets in Missoula have good sidewalks and are pleasant for running. However, one of the best options on the street running scene is Arthur Ave., reaching along the west end of the University of Montana. This sidewalk spans 1.2 miles from Madison Park to the University of Montana Golf Course. Runners can then loop around the University of Montana campus using South 5th Street East, Campus Drive, East Beckwith Ave, and Arthur Ave. There are a number of pretty interior paths cutting through the interior of campus, passing the collegiate brick buildings. The surrounding neighborhood, including Beckwith Ave. and University Ave., makes for more great street running on shady, tree-lined sidewalks. Runners can also connect to the “M” Trail on Mount Sentinel. We’ve mapped a 5k around campus and the neighborhood.

Add-Ons: The Kim Williams Trail along the Clark Fork River is adjacent to the university. See our route there!
