In the Zhongshan Scenic Area (Xuanwu District) at the foot of Purple (Zijin) Mountain, Lingyuan Road is a popular spot for walking and running. The road features a beautiful canopy of large French plane trees, which runners can enjoy over the road’s ~3 km length. The road is also in the area of two major historical sites: the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Linggu Temple. Note: Especially beautiful in autumn.
Lingyuan Road. The road runs between Ninghang Hwy and the Mausoleum. It features good sidewalks, so it’s nice for running. The Mausoleum itself has a wide, impressive avenue leading to the site, but this part is NOT appropriate for running. Note the road climbs 45m from south to north.
Purple Mountain Area. There are numerous additional roads and paths for running in this scenic area. There’s a botanical garden, Plum Blossom Hill (13.000 plum trees), Purple Mountain Observatory, & more.
