Pohang has become an increasingly popular destination for its beaches. From a running perspective, the beaches aren’t great for running, as they’re not very long, they can get crowded, and the sand isn’t very firm. But they are runnable in the right conditions. Some of the best beaches for running in Pohang are below.  Pro tip: Catch these beaches at sunrise!

Yeongildae Beach. Centrally located and can be combined with a waterfront run to Hwanho Park. 1.6 km long, sand can be firm near the water. Added attraction is the jaunt out Yeongil Bridge.

Pohang Songdo Beach. This 1.6 km beach on Songdo is fairly narrow but is runnable in the right conditions. There’s a waterfront promenade alongside — part of our Songdo loop or a longer run incorporating Hyeongsangang Park just south of the beach and paths along the Hyeongsan River.

Wolpo Beach. Just north of the city. Wide, 2 km long beach. A pebble section and a sand section. There’s also a decent road alongside the beach that’s runnable. Bonus: there’s a train station near the beach.
