Warta River Loop

Google Street View

The paths along the Warta River make for some nice running in Poznań. There are multi-use paths along both sides of the narrow river from the Bolesława Chrobrego Bridge (most) in the centre south to the Przemysł I Bridge. There are nice views of the water, with some occasional sections dipping inland. The landscape becomes increasingly pastoral headed south. The distance is 4 km one-way, or a fun 8 km loop using paths on both sides.

Add-Ons: There are some great add-ons to make this a longer run or add some variety:

  • Stare Koryto Warty Park. Near the northern start of the route, on the west bank.  Pleasant 1 km loop of the park on its paths.
  • Lake Malta Loop. Just east of the river path. 5.4 km lake loop
  • John Paul II Park. Near the southern end of the route, on the west bank. Lovely urban park with nice paths and a small lake. ~1.5 km loop
Essentials
  • Up to 4 km one-way. Can do an 8 km loop incorporating paths on both sides of the river
  • Fairly Flat
  • North End: Bolesława Chrobrego Bridge
  • Note: there aren't many options to cross the river along the way
