Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Diplomatic Quarter

Al Safarat, the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh, is a concentrated neighborhood of foreign embassies and international housing compounds located in the west part of Riyadh. This is the among the best areas of Riyadh for runners, with sidewalked roads, numerous designated pedestrian and cycling pathways, and several small parks with attractive landscaping. Some of the most popular pathways include the “Earth Berm” along the highway on the east side of the quarter, and the “Desert Park” along Wadi Hanifa on the west side of the quarter. The main path stretches for 3.5 km (one-way) through Al-Muntazah al-‘Am (the “General Park” on the north end), as shown in our Short Route map.

For one of the best long run opportunities in Riyadh, we’ve also mapped a 12.5 km route that circles the perimeter and some of the key locations within Al Safarat, but feel free to explore the other sidewalks and walkways within the neighborhood.

Essentials
  • 12.5 km (8 miles) perimeter loop; numerous additional paths and small parks
  • 82m
