Tblisi, Georgia

Tblisi Central Steets

LeontinaVarlamonva

Tblisi’s central area is enjoyable to explore on a run. In addition to our more involved ‘runseeing‘ tour, this route is a guide to some of the nicer streets for running in the city, especially on the right bank of the Kura River (Clock Tower side).

RIGHT BANK. There are two longer, historic streets that are good anchors for running in central Tblisi. On the right bank of the river, Shota Rustaveli Ave. is a wide, tree-lined street that runs for 2 km between Freedom Square and Vere Park. Along the way, you’ll see Freedom Square, MOMA Tblisi, the Opera & Ballet, the Georgian National Museum, and 9 April Park.  In addition, you can head toward the river from Freedom Square and explore the cobblestoned streets around the Clock Tower and run over the Bridge of Peace to Rike Park, and run on the paths along the right or left banks of the Kura River.

LEFT BANK. Agmashenebeli Avenue is a wide, tree-lined street that runs for ~1.5 km between Saarbrücken Square and Mushthaid Garden, a 19-cenury park. The Art Palace is one of the architectural highlights along this street. In addition, from Saarbrücken Square, cross the Saarbrücken Bridge to the right bank and explore Dedaena Park & 9 April Park.
