This ‘Runseeing’ tour of Tblisi hits all the major highlights: Old City, Rike Park, Narikala Fortress, Botanical Garden, gateway to Mtatsminda Park, Freedom Square, & more. Overall, it’s 10 km and very hilly. We also provide a shorter option.
Start on the left bank of the Kura River, with a loop around the Metekhi St. Virgin Church and Rike Park to the Peace Bridge. LEFT on Erekle St. to pass the Zion Church, then up to Jerusalem Square and along Gomi St. to the Betlemi Street Stairs, continuing north along Beglar Akhospireli St. to Gudiashvili Square and Shalva Dadiani St. to Freedom Square & Liberty Square and the Georgian National Museum. Run through a small garden park to Shio Chitadze St. & Daniel Chonqadze St., passing the lower station of the Furnicular to Mtatsminda.
The next section is as 300 climb to the Mtatsminda Viewpoint, then along a wooded trail for 2.5 km to the Botanical Garden and the Mother of Georgia. The Botanical Garden is mainly wooded. Continue east to the impressive Narikala Fortress. There are great views in this area! Our route continues past Leghvtakhevi Waterfall and then on Mirza Shafi St. to the Sulfur Baths to the I Love Tblisi sign and the Metekhi Bridge.
Shorter Option: You can eliminate the entire 5 km loop (and a lot of hills) from Freedom Square to Mtatsminda by taking one of the roads/paths between the Betlemi Street Stairs and the Mother of Georgia/Botanical Garden.
Longer Option: Additional trails in Mtatsminda Park, the Botanical Garden, or along the Kura River.
- Full loop is 10 km (6.2 miles)
- 424m (1393 feet) -- mostly in climn to Mtatsminda or Narikala Fortress
