This easy and attractive run features the highlights of Pensacola’s waterfront and historic district. Start at Memorial Park, which has a 1/4 mile walking path around the perimeter, and pedestrian path leading out to Hawkshaw Lagoon Memorial Park. Next, choose the short or long option for our route.
Long option: 6.5 miles Adds a 2-mile out and back, heading north from Memorial Park along Bayfront Parkway, to Greenshores, Wayside Park, and Fishing Bridge, which parallels the Pensacola Bay Bridge for 1/4 mile. It’s pleasant waterfront running, although the section of Bayfront Parkway leading to the bridge is a bit of an unpleasant road tangle. Then, add the route below.

Short Option. Returning to Memorial Park, head south on Bayfront Parkway, which has a wide, waterfront sidewalk. Just after Bartram Park, LEFT on Jefferson St. to do a 3/4 mile loop around the Plaza De Luna Memorial Monument. Head west on Main St., to then so a similar loop down the next pier, around the waterfront Admiral Fetterman Field (stadium for the Blue Wahoos minor league baseball team). Then, head back east to the start through the Seville Historic District, using W. Government St. and Zaragoza St. through Seville Sq./Fountain Park.

Short option: 4.5 mile (7 km) loop; Long option: 6.5 mile (10.5 km) loop
A loop around the Bayou Texar is a good opportunity for a long run in Pensacola. The 10-mile loop around the strait includes the walking trails of Bayview Park, waterfront roads, and shady residential neighborhoods.
Two good running options here: A 5+ mile route featuring the Boardwalk, two piers, and a paved multi-use trail. For beach running, the wide, white sand beach goes for many miles in each direction. Sand tends to be soft.
Nice running opportunities at Gulf Islands National Seashore: 7.5 miles of hiking trails around Fort Pickens; along the road or beach at Navarre Beach/Opal Beach; and several miles of trails in the Naval Live Oak Area.
An attractive waterfront run in the Navy Point neighborhood, located about 5 miles east of downtown. A multi-use path winds its way along the waterfront, for a 4.5 mile out and back. Add on with pleasant residential streets.
Fantastic trails for running on this campus! 4 miles of shaded cross country trails, 600 acres of more rugged trails popular for trail running, and three 'campus tour' trails. Adjacent neighborhood also nice for running.
The Scenic Hills & Fox Run neighborhoods just west of the University of West Florida campus are terrific for some quiet, bucolic road running. Long, winding, tree-shaded roads with fairly light traffic.
