Frere Hall and Sindh Secretariat Area

Wikimedia Commons: Furqanlw

This is a good opportunity to put together a run in a historic section of Karachi, and an area populated by numerous tourist and business hotels. It combines a tour of the Frere Hall grounds the Civil Lines neighborhood with the adjacent Sindh Secretariat area, which features numerous late 1800s era spectacular buildings, including the National Museum of Pakistan, Bagh-e-Jinnah Park, the High Court, and Provincial Assembly Of Sindh (the province where Karachi is located). Overall, it’s nearly 7 km.

Use our route map as a guideline, since many of the roads/paths are difficult to map digitally. Start at the grounds of Frere Hall, an 1860s building surrounded by a garden and now a library and exhibition space. Then cross Club Rd. into Bagh-e-Jinnah Park, which has some nice fields and a polo ground. Continue to the grounds of the National Museum of Pakistan and Supreme Court of Pakistan, and just east of there, the YMCA Lawns and several prominent buildings associated with the Sindh government. Complete your run using Club Rd. and the Frere walking paths.
