It’s fun to explore Coeur d’Alene’s downtown and residential areas with a run. We suggest you create your own route, using Sherman Ave.  — the main commercial drag with loots of shops and restaurants — as an anchor. The residential streets just off Sherman Ave. are decent for running. Generally they’re wide with good sidewalks.  Some of the more attractive streets, featuring nice trees and attractive homes are: E Foster Ave., N. Government Way (as far north as Harrison Ave.), E Lakeside Ave., and E Mullan Ave. The numbered streets run north-south, and we particularly like running between 9th St. and 12th St. It’s easily to put together a run of several miles.

Running in the downtown area is a good option when it’s icy and snowy, as the lake trail and other area trails might be slippery.
