The Wildcat Bluff Nature Center is one of our favorite places for running in Amarillo. Located 8 miles west of downtown, the Nature Center features 6 miles of easy-to-moderate trails for running showcasing the area’s native grasslands. This trail map shows a few possible loop options. Combining the Windmill, Lower Bluff, and Upper Bluff trails would be a 4-5 mile run. Note: Admission fee required
Old Soncy Multi-Use Trail. Adjacent to Wildcat Bluff, a former road is now an off-road, 3-mile multi-use path running parallel to Loop 335. It won’t win any awards for scenery, being alongside a busy road, but it’s a good way to rack up a few miles on an off-road path. It runs from the Nature Center south to West Amarillo Blvd, and is a gradual climb from north to south. For an even more ambitious, longer off-road run, the west end of the 4-mile Rock Island Rail Trail is located 1 mile east of the southern terminus of the Old Sconcy Trail.
