Rother Valley Country Park, Meadowgate Lake by Chris Morgan

Rother Valley Country Park, located about 10 miles east of Sheffield, is a worth-it destination run. The 750-acre park is a center of recreational activity, from watersports to cycling. It’s also a joy for runners, with several miles of scenic, fairly easy jogging trails. The highlight is the 10k Trans Pennine Trail — a gravel path around the perimeter of the two main lakes. There’s also a 2.25 Nature Reserve Trail, and a 1.9 mile Sculpture Trail, which can be run separately or combined for a longer run. The terrain is fairly open — there are good views of the lake along most of the Trans Pennine Trail.
