Run the ancient Sherwood Forest, home to the enduring legend of Robin Hood, and site of more than 1,000 oak trees that are more than 500 years old. The 375-hectare forest is located about 20 miles north of Nottingham, and features several miles of scenic, wooded paths for runners to enjoy. It’s a combination of bridle paths and walking trails. There are four waymarked ‘walks’, including the 1.75-mile Major Oak Trail, which leads to the 1,000-year-old tree, and other walking trails ranging from 2 to 4 miles. See the guide and map for more information. There are additional bridle paths for those who want more.
There’s a Visitor Centre and numerous facilities.
