Among the many waterfront running options in Metz, the path along the Canal de la Moselle is a nice option. One can run for nearly 11 km south to Jouy-aux-Arches. It’s a dirt/gravel path and a little less developed than the river paths.
Start at the Jardin de l’esplanade de Metz, and head south, crossing the Symphorien Bridge at 1 km. Continue south, paralleling the E21. The scenery is nicest from km 5 and south of there, in the area of Parc de Trois Haies & Étangs d’Outre-Moselle (lake).
At the south end, of the mapped route (km 10.7), it’s possible to continue south on the Véloroute charles le téméraire, which is part of our Moselle River Path (south) route.
