The Chase Camp Trail is a good way to clock some miles on an easy, flat multi-use trail. This mainly paved rail-trail runs parallel to an active rail line, and runs through the mostly rural outskirts of Columbus out towards London, Ohio. Overall, the trail is 15 miles, but we’ve mapped the 11 miles between the Hilltop Bridge and Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park.

The official start is on the west side of the river at Eureka Ave. but you can also start at McKinley Ave. (the west end of the Scioto River Trail) using the Hilltop Connector pedestrian bridge. Head west for as many miles as you like! The terrain is fairly open and is a mix of residential for the first half and then becoming more agricultural. At mile 3.6, there’s an 0.5 mile on-road segment. We end the route at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, but the trail does continue west for another few miles, and then continues as a long-distance bike path

Add-Ons: At the east (Columbus) end, add with the Lower Scioto River Trail. At the west end, there are many miles of trails in scenic Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park. The Chase Camp also continues as several differently named trails for 100+ miles west to Cincinnati.
