Albany Pine Bush Preserve

For some scenic and gentle trail running, we recommend heading to the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. Located eight miles west of downtown Albany, this area of pine barrens features 20 miles of rolling hill trails, from wide open sandy trails to narrow grassy woodland paths. The trails are color-coded and well marked. The trails are open year-round. Note: Can be snowy/icy in winter.

A more moderate trail is the 2.9 mile (one-way) Yellow Trail at Karner Barrens. A more challenging option is the Green Truax Trail, 2.1 miles (one-way).

Essentials
  • 20 miles of trails, with several color-coded loops. Something for all levels
  • Some rolling hills
  • Parking lot
