Alta Murgia National Park

The expansive Alta Murgia National Park, located about 50 km southeast of Bari, is one of the finest parks in the Puglia region. The varied landscape includes forests, open pastures, rocky outcrops, and old abandoned villages. There are tremendous opportunities here for running on quiet roads and gravel paths, with some great options for more rugged trail running as well.

For those who want to cover a specific route, we recommend a section of their 65 km multi-use path/cycling route. In particular:

Ruvo di Puglia Railway Station to Tratturello Regio, 9.2 km one-way. Paved, stone-walled lined road/path through fields, almond trees and olive trees. Info & Map.

La Ferrata Road. 2.6 km one-way. Pleasant scenery among olive trees and almond groves. Info & Map.
