Just 1/2 mile from downtown, there’s a lovely ~3 mile, hilly run combining the attractive campus of Western Washington University and the adjacent Sehome Arboretum. The university has numerous pedestrian paths, passing by mainly modern buildings.
Closest to the city, start at Viking Union Gallery. Enjoy the paths, heading south through campus for ~1 mile, and do a couple of loops around the running track. Continue to the Fairhaven Fields and Outback Farm at the southern edge of campus. Then, enter the Arboretum, and enjoy its hilly, mainly forested paths. Be sure to get to the Viewpoint!
If you’d like to access from downtown, it’s ~0.5 miles from the central business district — use N Gordon St. or High St.
Add-Ons: Additional paths in the Arboretum. The South Bay Trail downtown and other centrally located routes.
