Chip Ross Park

Jonathan Lidbeck

Located in the northern reaches of the city, Chip Ross Park is a favorite among trail runners for its variety and incredible views of the Corvallis Valley and the surrounding Cascades and Coastal Ranges. There are a number of trails throughout the 125-acre park, including the signature Chip Ross Loop, a 1.4 mile hilly route through forest and meadow. Runners will find some 1.15 miles of additional paths to the south of the park in the Timberhill Open Space.

For more mileage, we recommend some of the attractive roads surrounding the park. Lester Avenue is a good option, with nearly a mile of gently rolling paved shoulder. We especially love the Timber Hill neighborhood for its pristine sidewalks, modern houses, and tucked-away walking paths surrounded by bursts of foliage. There is also nearby access to the McDonald-Dunn Forest, which has more rugged trails for running.
