Águilas is a coastal town at the southwestern end of the Costa Cálida, known for its numerous beaches. There’s nearly 6 km of running on a waterfront promenade/sidewalk, with good beach and water views.
The boardwalk in Águilas starts at the marina/port area, near the Playa de la Cañada del Negro. It’s a wide, paved promenade, P.º de la Constitución. Head east, along the Playa de Poniente. After 2 km, you’ll reach a viewpoint (mirador) for the Castillo San Juan de las Aguilas, which sits atop a rock on the water. Continue around the port, as a palm-lined, wide sidewalk/promenade follows the port area and two small beaches around the bay for nearly 2 km to the end of Playa de las Delicias and the Pico de la Aguilica rock formation.
We’ve added a jaunt to the Tunel del embarcadero del Hornillo — railway tunnels that were dug by the British in the early 1900s. There’s an 0.5 km greenway path, and a museum worth visiting.
