Emerald Lake Park offers one of the better options for gentler running in the Dandenongs. One of the destination points for the Puffing Billy tourist train line (Lakeside Station), the park features seven walking trails meandering around the lake and into the rainforest.

In order to put together a run of several km, you’ll have to combine some of the trails. The Emerald-Cockatoo Multi-Use Trail runs for 1 km within Emerald Park, and continues to through Wombat Corner to Cockatoo. This guide provides further information, including a description of each trail.

Essentials
  • Can put together ~6 km combining the trails
  • Some sections steep
  • The main carpark, next to the Puffing Billy station
  • Aside from Puffing Billy, car is the best option. Small parking fee
