Gulshan Lake and Baridhara Neighborhood

One of the better places for a run in Dhaka is in the upscale Gulshan district, home to corporate offices and foreign embassies. One can stitch together a pretty decent ~10 km run here, consisting of Gulshan Lake and the Baridhara neighborhood. The streets in this area are a bit more runnable (for Dhaka…all is relative).

We start with an ’embassy tour’ in the Baridhara neighborhood on the tree-lined United Nations Road, which has a decent sidewalk and Baridhara Lakeside Rajuk Park along Gulshan Lake. After ~ 2 km, cross a small bridge to the other side of the lake, and take Gulshan Rd. up to the small but pretty Gulshan Lake Park, which has a jogging track. It’s ~0.7 km around the paths. Next is an optional loop of the western section of Gulshan Lake along the Gulshan Lake Walkway. It’s up to 3 km. [Note: sections of this walkway are not in very good shape.]
