The Hartley Park/Nature Center is a 640-acre park featuring more than 10 miles of mainly wooded multi-use trails. The park is popular for hiking and mountain biking in the summer, and for X-C skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. This is mostly a trail running area. There’s something here for runners of all trail running abilities. Note: hours are Monday-Friday: 9am-5pm, Saturday: 10am-5pm.

It’s best to create your own route using the attached trail map. For those who want a trail free of mountain bikers, the section of the Superior Hiking Trail that passes through the park is foot traffic only. Note: best to print and bring the trail map with you!

Add-Ons/Alternative: The residential neighborhoods around the Hartley Nature Center are pleasant for running, featuring quiet roads and pretty homes. North of the park, enjoy the roads of the Woodland neighborhood, while the Hunters Park neighborhood southeast of the park is also nice. For a long run, head south of the park to the University of Minnesota campus and then to Chester Park, 1.5 miles away.
