Features:
Spanning the length of Merritt Island, the Tropical Trail is a gorgeous stretch of paved road with intermittent, but lovely waterfront views of the Banana and Indian Rivers. This run also explores some of the area’s finest waterfront homes. Note: no sidewalks, and very little shoulder in some sections, but frequent speed bumps keep the traffic to a safe speed.
For a 10 mile out and back, the team at Running Zone recommends starting at Oars and Paddles Park, just north of the Eau Gallie Causeway (near the Mathers Bridge). Cross the bridge and turn RIGHT (north) onto Tropical Trail. Reverse direction at the 5 mile mark, near the Pineda Causeway (FL 404) to complete the route. Of course, the distance can be shortened by turning around at any point.
