Located just southwest of the city center, Slottsskogen is a classic European city park, home to the Gothenburg Botanical Gardens, the Natural History Museum, a Zoo and miles of tarmac paths that are great for a peaceful park run. The paths are a combination of open fields and wooded. Slottsskogen is just off the commuter rail, so it’s easy access for runners. A loop around the park, starting at the Natural History Museum and heading south is about 2.5 miles (4 km). There’s an outdoor gym at the northern end of the park and a running track at the southern end.

Longer Run: Enjoy the park’s interior paths, cross over to the trails of the Änggårdsbergen (nature reserve with open and wooded trails), or hop on the bike path which runs south all the way to Vastra Frolunda, about 5 km.
