The Touqian River Trail is another decent off-road running option in Hsinchu City. The centrally located paved multi-use path follows the Touqian River for nearly 11 km, headed east from Hsinchu Nanliao Fishing Harbor. The western 8 km of the route is not particularly scenic run, as the path is away from the water and close to the busy Gongdaowu Rd. for much of the way. The nicest section is the eastern 3 km, from Touqian Riverside Park. Overall, a good way to clock some off-road miles. Be on the lookout for bikes!
From the harbor, follow the cycle path east for as many km as you like! The path is along the south side of the river. There are some water views, but the river is narrow and fairly muddy. From Touqian Riverside Park (km8), the scenery is nicer, and there are some additional trails for variety. The path ends just east of the Jingguo Bridge.
Add-Ons: At the trail’s western terminus, you can also run the 17 KM Coastline Scenic Area path. There’s also another section of cycle path that starts up again 5 km east, near the Zhongzheng Bridge.
