Best Kansas City Neighborhoods for Running: Ward Estates, Country Club, Mission Hills

There is wonderful residential neighborhood running in the Plaza/Country Club area of Kansas City, about 4 miles from downtown. The Plaza itself is a major cultural, shopping, and dining destination. Just south of the Plaza, there are several adjacent neighborhoods that feature winding, tree-lined streets and gracious older homes. See our Kansas City Overview Map for locations.

South of the Plaza, using Ward Pkwy. and Jacob Loose Park as an anchor, create your own route in Ward Estates and the Country Club District. Just west of Ward Pkwy., crossing into Kansas in the Kansas City Country Club area, are the Mission Hills and Indian Hills neighborhoods. You can put together many miles here. The best running is south of Volker Blvd., from The Paseo west to the Kansas City and Indian Hills Country Clubs.
