The Salt Lake neighborhood of Kolkata, also known as Bidhannagar, is located just north of Kolkata’s lakes, between Highway 1 and the VIP Road. It’s a pleasant neighborhood for running, with lots of wide sidewalks and spacious parkland. Runners may especially enjoy running around the dirt roads that criss-cross the lakes of the East Kolkata Wetlands. There are plenty of route options to choose from, but we’ve mapped a 9 km tour around the best of the waterfront. It starts from Nidtha Road Side Park, Turns Right onto 27 Road/Nicco Park Eastside, then follows Ring Road to the Salt Lake Viewpoint before returning. For more running, explore the paths and roads around the Wetlands, just to the south of Salt Lake.
