One of the more pleasant and scenic waterfront routes in Liguria is the 5.2 km path between Varigotti and Finale Ligure. There are wonderful views of the water the entire way. Starting at the north end at Varigotti Beach, follow the pedestrian path/sidewalk alongside the SS1 (Via Aurelia) for 4 km, which includes a nice section around the marina at the 3 km mark. At River Beach, there’s a dedicated waterfront promenade, Lungomare Italia, for the final 1.2 km to Finale Ligure and the end of Vittoria Beach.
Add-Ons: Just north of Varigotti Beach, there are extensive hiking trails that make for some hilly, fairly challenging trail running. You can take the trail to Torre Saracena, or one of the several trails in the hills above the Castrum Varigotti.
