A Guide to the Best Places to Run in Bologna and Surrounding Areas

Capital of the Emilia-Romagna region in Northern Italy and the seventh largest city in Italy, Bologna is an important agricultural, industrial, financial and transport hub. The city is known for its towers, churches, 38 km of porticoes, and location of the oldest university in the world. There’s great running in Bologna’s well-preserved historical center (inside the SS64 Ring Road), in its parks, and the verdant hills rising just south of the city.

We’ve carved out five great places to run in Bologna: a gorgeous ‘runseeing tour‘, the popular Parco Giardini Margherita, a unique route entirely under one of Bologna’s covered arcades, and two gorgeous runs in Bologna’s green hills.
