Cebu, the capital of Cebu Province, is a city of 1 million people in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. It’s the country’s main domestic shipping port. Tourism has been growing in Cebu, with the 2022 opening of the CCLEX Bridge to Cordova being a catalyst. The options for running in Cebu aren’t that great. Even with the city’s maritime location, there are few good options for running on the water. And the city center’s main streets tend to be congested and not really conducive for running.

We’ve put together three running routes in Cebu that can be mixed and matched. For waterfront running, the best option is on Il Corso, and it’s possible to run on a cycle path to there from the city center. Another memorable run is on the pedestrian walkway along the CCLEX Bridge — up to 11.5 km one-way! We’ve also put together a ‘runseeing’ tour of Cebu, which includes Fort San Pedro, key sites accessed from the wide Osmeña Blvd., and even a running track!

Runners should note that Cebu’s monsoonal climate is a factor — temperatures are uniformly hot and humid year-round, typically 30-32C during the day and rarely dip below 24C at night.

Runners should note that Cebu’s monsoonal climate is a factor — temperatures are uniformly hot and humid year-round, typically 30-32C during the day and rarely dip below 24C at night. The city receives nearly 1600 mm (62 inches) of rain annually, with only March and April being somewhat dry. Plan and hydrate accordingly!
