The south Texan city of Corpus Christi sits between two small bays in the Gulf of Mexico, protected by a series of barrier beaches, including Mustang Island and Padre Island. This “Sparkling City by the Sea” is famous for its sandy beaches, excellent birdwatching, and a large port which plays a key role in the oil industry. Thanks to beaches, parks, and miles of multi-use pathways, there are many great places for running in Corpus Christi
The most popular place to run in Corpus Christi is the Corpus Christi Bay Trail, along the waterfront. However, runners will also find plenty of beach running on North Beach, Padre Island, and Mustang Island. Multi-use pathways like the Sunset Lake Trail, Texas A&M Hike and Bike Trail, Oso Bay Wetlands, Oso Creek Trail, and the Shea Parkway Trail can be found throughout the city. West of the city, the bucolic Calallen neighborhood is very pleasant for running.
Most visitors choose to rent a car or use a rideshare service for getting around Corpus Christi, but don’t overlook the “Trolley,” an efficient and inexpensive bus system around town. These busses will take you to any of our running route locations, including Padre Island!
