The largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean, Mallorca (Majorca) is a popular tourist destination, owing to its great weather, history, and culture. With a diverse geography consisting of great beaches, rugged coastal coves, interior mountains, and fertile valleys, Mallorca is a treat for running: there are seaside promenades, pastoral roads passing by farms and vineyards, and all manner of hilly terrain for those who want a challenge. There’s also a great variety of trail running in the Tramuntana and Llevant mountains. See RunMallorca and Trail Running Mallorca for good trail running recommendations. If you’d like to have an in-person guided running experience in Palma de Mallorca, we highly recommend our friends at Go! Running Tours.
For our guide to running in Mallorca, we’ve put together several routes in the capital of Palma, including a ‘runseeing’ tour, the Paseo Maritimo, and a tour of Bellver Castle. Some of our other favorite places to run in Mallorca are the seaside paths in Palma Nova, Port de Pollença, and Port d’Alcúdia. We’ve also provided recommendations on some of the best roads for running in Mallorca, as well as favored walks and hikes that are suitable for running.
In Palma, there’s a good bus system and a new metro/light rail system. Elsewhere on Mallorca there are buses, but a car is very helpful to get around the countryside.
