Nagoya is the third largest city in Japan, and capital of the Aichi Prefecture. With its location on the Pacific coast on central Honshu, Nagoya is an important shipping an manufacturing hub. Although dense and industrial, there are some good spots for running in Nagoya — mainly in a series of small to moderate parks and some pleasant paths along the city’s numerous rivers. Our thanks to H&R Group and Marc Guthrie for some of the route suggestions!
The best places to run in Nagoya include numerous parks — including Meijo and Tsuruma are centrally located, while Shonai Ryokuchi Park, and Heiwa park are larger. There are also paths along the Shonai/Yara rivers, and along the Yamazaki and Tenpaku Rivers.
Like other Japanese cities, transport is outstanding. All our routes are easily accessible via subway or train, and the extensive transport allows for some fun one-way running options! Note that summers in Nagoya are hot, humid, and wet.
