Heiwa Park

Heiwa (Higashiyamaa) Park offers a great opportunity for a longer, greener, and less manicured run. This peaceful spot is located on hills above Nagoya in the Chikusa Ward. There are numerous woodland paths lined with cherry trees, fields, picnic grounds, and stairs. The park also contains a cemetery with graves from more than 250 temples in the city.

There’s a 6.5 km marked ‘cross country running’ course around the perimeter of the park, which is popular for running.  Add onto this or create your own route among the additional paths, including the more forested trails of the ‘cemetery section’ of the southern part of the park, stretching as far as the Nagoya Zoo and Botanical Gardens. This area is an excellent opportunity to get some hill running in.

Group Run: Stride Lab running store has group runs in the park on Wednesdays. Thanks to them for the course map as well!
